# Direction: aj360-raw-edit
Runtime date: 2026-10-29 Mode: auto, don't ask Tier: light (edit type; the footage fixes the subject) with reference fidelity high Crew: lean

## Summary
Concept: the speaker's five sentences, each carried by one of the reference's signature moves, closed by the Al Jazeera 360 end card (D-10)
Direction: "Al Jazeera 360 promo grammar, as it is" (D-11)
Palette: reference colors, measured (D-12)
Type: AlJazeera Bold for every Arabic word, from the official site (D-13)
Gates: default look pass (reference-locked, D-11); distance not applicable (remake of a supplied reference by request); fingerprint off; clarity read-3 PASS r1; brand test 0 of 6 r1 (extra check, not a gate for broll-overlay; see ice/review/NOTE.md)

## Decisions

### D-01 Edit type
Status: approved
Question: Which edit type carries this job
Locked inputs: raw.mp4 (10.0 s, one speaker, one take); reference.mp4
Options:
- A: broll-overlay (inserts, kinetic type, captions and cards over footage that stays) (rests on: prompt, footage)
- B: talking-head ad (rests on: one speaker to camera)
- C: shorts and reels (rests on: short length)
- D: long-form (rests on: none; the footage is 10 s)
Choice: A
Reason: the speech is kept whole and the reference's grammar is overlays, inserts and cards on a locked studio shot.
Sources: BRIEF route and film_type; prompt quoted; raw probe
Approved by: approver role in auto mode, recorded at the 01 approval
Left behind: B, a talking-head ad, whose cutting rules would trim the speech
Supersedes: none

### D-02 Goal, D-03 audience and market, D-04 platform and canvas, D-05 length, D-06 language
Status: approved
Question: the stage 01 slots the user waived ("ما تسألنيش أسئلة البداية وقرر أنت")
Options and choice (recommended first, taken; three alternatives each):
- goal: A taken, the viewer keeps the speaker's idea and knows it is Al Jazeera 360; B drive viewers to the platform; C promote a full episode; D a style test only
- audience: A taken, Arabic-speaking AJ360 viewers on YouTube and social, sound on; B muted social feeds; C editors studying the style; D English speakers
- platform and canvas: A taken, YouTube 16:9 master 1920x1080 at 24 fps (graphics drawn at full resolution, footage scaled from 1280x720, the footage's own frame rate kept so lips stay in sync); B 1280x720 like the source; C 9:16 reel; D 1:1 feed
- length: A taken, 12 to 15 s (10.0 s of speech plus about 3.5 s end card); B 10 s, speech only; C 15 s with a cold-open sting; D 20 s with a held end card
- language: A taken, speech stays English, all on-screen words MSA Arabic, a faithful translation; B Arabic plus English captions; C English only on screen; D Egyptian dialect on screen
Reason: the reference is an Arabic platform promo whose on-screen words carry the speech; the raw's speech is English, so the Arabic words must translate it faithfully and the voice stays untouched.
Sources: prompt quoted; raw transcript (faster-whisper large-v3-turbo, 2026-10-29); reference analysis
Approved by: approver role in auto mode, recorded at the 01 approval

### D-07 What to avoid
Status: approved
Choice: no name or title lower third for the speaker (his identity is not given and the raw's face differs from the reference host); no words beyond the speech's own meaning; the speech is never cut, sped up or faded before its last word.
Sources: ice-edit rules section 4; truth rules of ice-assets

### D-08 Brand owner status and identity mode
Status: approved
Options: A not owner, unofficial practice edit using the official files as they are (taken); B owner, official; C not owner, identity recreated in a neutral look; D no logo at all
Reason: the user asked for the identity "as it is" and did not say they are Al Jazeera; the delivery note lists the permissions an owner would need.
Sources: prompt quoted; questions.md section 5 waiver

### D-09 Versions
Status: approved
Options: A master 16:9 only (taken); B plus a 9:16 reel; C plus a 6 s cutdown; D plus an English-caption version
Reason: the reference is a single 16:9 promo; nothing in the request asks for other formats.

### D-10 Concept
Status: superseded in part by D-16 (neon title removed)
Choice: each spoken sentence carried by the reference move whose trigger it matches, closed by the platform end card.
Left behind: one move per second regardless of the words (blind copy).

### D-11 Direction
Status: approved
Choice: "Al Jazeera 360 promo grammar, as it is": reference-locked look (fidelity high), by the user's words "بنفس أسلوب ... بالظبط" and "بهوية الجزيرة زي ما هي".

### D-12 Palette
Status: approved
Choice: measured reference colors only (`ice/assets/brand-sheet.json`): red disk #DC3641 to #7E1D1F, red dot #FF010A, text white #EDEAEE to grey, end card navy #262636 to teal #263F51, teal planet rim. Default-look gate: passes; no blue or purple dominance outside the platform's own end card.

### D-13 Type
Status: approved
Choice: AlJazeera Bold (and Regular for the app capsule and footer), the font the official site loads; kashida stretching as on the reference.

### D-14 Engine and tools
Status: approved
Choice: HTML canvas page rendered by the bundled `render-html.mjs` (engine table row 6: per-pixel matte compositing of the speaker over and under text, every frame from preloaded footage, matte and B-roll stills), FFmpeg for audio and the final mux.
Tools checked 2026-10-29: Node v25.7.0, FFmpeg on PATH, Python 3.12.10, project venv `.venv` with the ice-remake, ice-audio and ice-assets pins (installed with the user's consent: "مسموحلك تنزّل أي موديل أو أداة محتاجها"), faster-whisper large-v3-turbo int8 (local, from the user's HF cache blobs), rembg 2.0.81 with u2net_human_seg for the person matte, Chrome via the renderer's built-in driver.
Left behind: HyperFrames (not installed in this folder; the matte compositing is per-pixel work the canvas page does directly).

### D-15 Rhythm rule conflict (scoped)
Status: approved
Question: the broll-overlay type asks for cutaways of 3 to 10 s with 2 s of face between; the reference cuts away in bursts of 0.8 to 1.2 s inserts.
Choice: the reference's measured rhythm wins for this film (the user asked for the reference "بالظبط"); the type's rule is kept for other edits.
Sources: `ice/reference/ref01/ANALYSIS.md` (inserts at 7.44 to 11.08 s and 16.44 to 20.36 s of the reference, 4 shots each)

### D-16 Owner's notes, relayed by the lead session on 2026-10-29
Status: approved (owner's words, relayed)
Notes quoted in short: "الكود ممنوع: ولا موسيقى ولا مؤثر صوتي معمول بالكود" ; "الشخص المعتّم أو السيلويت بيكون الشخص اللي المتكلم بيتكلم عنه، ومش المتكلم نفسه" ; "كل عنصر في المرجع بيظهر لسبب ... اللي ملوش سبب يتشال" ; "motion blur ... blur ... ملمس الفيلم القديم ... vignette، وglow، والـ grade العام. قيسهم من المرجع".
Effects on this film:
- Sound: three real library tracks, each mixed with the speech, for the owner to pick; real recorded effects, one per move, quiet under the speech; no audio made by code. Supersedes the code-music default.
- Reasons: `ice/plan/element-reasons.md`; every appearance is tied to its sentence. Removed: neon title, crosshair, flag, "يعرض الآن" badge, programme bug (no trigger in our speech). Supersedes D-10's use of the neon title.
- Speaker lit: measured on the reference's black and white beat (face luma 0.43 in both, background 0.29 to 0.22); our B4 keeps the speaker's exposure and darkens only the background.
- Finishing measured and applied by reason: grade (background darker, speaker's exposure kept), vignette, Gaussian blur (rack focus, insert develop-in, text entrances), Fast Box Blur (glass), Glow, CC Light Sweep (capsule, text), motion blur (4 subframes at shutter 0.5 on the render), Noise (grain on all, heavier on inserts), specks and flicker and halftone on the inserts only, Turbulent Displace approximated by a slow wobble of the red disk.

### D-17 Inserts
Status: approved
Options: A real NASA teams at work, 2026 (Launch Control Center, Artemis III terminal count simulation, 2026-10-15; Orion Mission Evaluation Room at splashdown, 2026-04-10) (taken); B Artemis II launch and crowd (2026-04-01): fits "future" and "together" but those lines carry their own graphics; C SLS spacer build (2026-10-13): fits "build" but B4 is a concept label; D stock footage: not official.
Reason: "others" and "solutions" are people solving a problem together; the newest official footage that shows exactly that is NASA's 2026 control-room work, public-domain under NASA's media guidelines.

## Heads-up
- The raw's speech is English. The film keeps it and writes every on-screen word in Arabic.
- This is an unofficial practice edit with the official Al Jazeera 360 files; publishing it as Al Jazeera's own needs the network's permission.

### D-18 Music and effects
Status: unresolved (the owner picks the track from the preview)
Question: which real library track carries the film
Options (all Pixabay Content License, no Content ID, `ice/audio/SOURCES.md`):
- A: "Dark Pulse" by MeeGi Studio, 99.4 BPM, window from 33.30 s: hybrid orchestral pulse, accent on 10.03 s (rests on: reference tempo 103.4 BPM and tension)
- B: "Deep Bass Cinematic Tension Forensic Noir Investigative Pulse" by Jose Luligo, window from 45.32 s: strongest build and hit on 10.0 s, deep bass, no drums
- C: "Minimalist Suspense & Investigative Pulse Cinematic Drone" by nxtlvl_snds, 99.4 BPM, window from 148.34 s: bass pulse under drones, swell on 10.0 s
Mix (preview): speech untouched; music about 14 LU under the speech until the last word (9.60 s), rising to the end card; one real recorded effect per move at -12 to -24 dB; single-pass loudness about -15 LUFS, true peak -1.5 dBTP (the final takes a two-pass -14 LUFS).
Effects: Pixabay files per move (`ice/audio/sfx/`); the neon flicker file is not used (the neon title was removed, D-16); the side words reuse the air swish.

### D-19 Grade and caption style (stage 05)
Status: approved
Grade: the reference-matched grade of D-16 (background brightness 0.84, contrast 1.12, saturation 0.95; the speaker only contrast 1.04, exposure kept; vignette 0.5, 0.72 in B4; highlight glow 0.4 on the studio only). The before and after is the preview against `raw.mp4`; the owner approved the preview on 2026-10-29 ("a و b حلوين جدا بس هختار b").
Caption style: AlJazeera Bold; glass capsule 64 px with the red dot for the key clause (B2); plain white caption 66 px with a soft shadow at y 900 for the translated line over the inserts (B3); kinetic words 92 to 104 px, white to light grey with a light sweep. One aspect ratio (16:9); title safe kept (nothing closer than 96 px to an edge except the platform bug, placed where the reference places it).
Music: B, "Deep Bass Cinematic Tension Forensic Noir Investigative Pulse" by Jose Luligo (Pixabay), window from 45.32 s, chosen by the owner. Supersedes D-18 (resolved).
