# Concepts (stage 02, light tier for an edit: three readings of the same footage)

The footage fixes the subject (D-06). The three readings differ in what the reel shows while the guest argues.

1. **The contradiction, proved (chosen).** The host's line sets a ballistic missile against the high schools; the guest explains the debt and the "no money" message; the payoff (money was found for the army) closes the loop. Every named thing is shown as real, dated footage: the 6 Oct 2026 M51.3 launch Macron watched, the October 2026 lycée blockades, the 2023 army budget, the 2022 invasion.
2. **The guest alone (unexpected).** No archive at all: the speaker, the studio, the words as kinetic type, like a manifesto. Strong on mute, but it drops the programme's archive-in-the-pause signature and leaves the "missile" as a word.
3. **The ledger (unexpected).** The two budgets as a running two-column ledger on screen, education on one side and the army on the other, filling as the guest speaks. It needs numbers the speakers did not say in the clip (the truth rule forbids them), so it would turn into invented data.

Chosen: 1. Left behind: 2, the safest "talking head with big words" reel.

## Viewer takeaway
Sells: the Al Jazeera programme "محاولة فهم" and its episode on why French students took to the street
Offer's job: none (no product; the programme explains a news story)
One-line idea: critics in France reject the state's claim that it has no extra money for education, since it found resources to raise military spending
(r2 after the critic's REVISE, `ice/review/direction/critic-D06-D07-D12-D13.md`: the government says no MORE money for education; the contradiction is the view of "parts of French society"; the guest calls it "one of the drivers", not the cause.)
Literal anchors: no symbolic device; the missile and Macron, the high schools and the young, the 2022 war and the army budget are each shown as real footage of the thing named; "الشارع الفرنسي" (public opinion) gets no picture of its own (r2)
