# mohawalat-fahm-france-reel: delivery report (2026-10-29)

Status: reviewer approved (auto mode, 2026-10-29): the approver passed every stage from 01 to 10, the critic's final verdict is SHIP, and the clarity read passed (round 5). The masked brand test failed in every round and is accepted on the owner's decision of 2026-10-29 (DIRECTION.md D-40), which added the programme's own marks. The user's own verdict on the film is still open (section "User verdict").

Versions (`ice/renders/archive/`, hashes in `ice/review/gates/sha256.txt`): v5 = the reel before the owner's decision (no marks; critic last check SHIP); v6 = with the programme's marks (D-40; critic marks check SHIP; cold read r4); v7 = with the attribution header of D-41, centred (cold read r5); v8 = the header set at the line's start, the delivered version (lint C7). Earlier renders before v5 were overwritten under one name; their hashes: c151693d (critic r2, cold read r2), ef779737 (cold read r3, critic fix check), 89a6d15a (critic final check). Other deliverables: `ice/renders/final/mohawalat-fahm-france_reel_9x16_66s_v8_free-font.mp4` (the same film in the free face Almarai, SIL OFL 1.1, for any public posting outside Al Jazeera, D-07; sha256 5bddac4fc8aeb55107bb48cccdb6f34957092dddb389832baa26c2d5300e55f1); sidecars `..._66s_v8_ar.srt` (26 captions, the decided spelling, the rendered word times), `..._66s_v8_transcript.txt` (the speech by speaker, the post text and the disclaimer), `..._66s_v8_edl.json`, `..._66s_v8_retimed-transcript.json`. Not delivered: an un-captioned master (the words on screen are the film's own design, D-05 and D-22; `ice/plan/versions.md` plans none). Case study: `ice/case-study/` and the site folder `ice/case-study/site/mohawalat-fahm-france-reel/` (free-font version with the marks, the disclaimer in Arabic and English). No cutdowns, no other ratio or language (D-11).

## The idea
A ballistic missile set against the high schools: the guest of "محاولة فهم" explains why part of France rejects the state's "no extra money for education", since it found resources to raise military spending; the programme signs it (D-06, D-12, `ice/plan/concepts.md`).
Strongest frame: 58.97 to 61.08, "وجدت موارد" lands crimson in front of the guest, right after the army budget footage with the disc behind Macron.
Structure fingerprint: hook on archive (missile, Macron) > contrast plates on the host > archive montage in the pause > guest argument (debt, claim, the young) > flash turn > the rejection > the war and the army as archive > payoff > the programme signs. Distance 5 of 6 from the nearest bundled style card "Visual journalism" (D-13).
Next version: a 30 s cut that opens on the payoff question "لماذا؟" and closes on "وجدت موارد", for the muted Facebook feed.

## Beats
| # | Time | What it buys | Real or illustrative |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0.00 to 4.69 | The hook: the M51.3 launch and Macron watching it, named as the host names them ("صورة لماكرون ... صاروخ باليستي") | real: France 3 Bretagne / Ministère des Armées, 6 Oct 2026 |
| 2 | 4.69 to 8.64 | The contrast, word by word on two plates under "فيه ناس تقول لك:" | real: the episode (host) |
| 3 | 8.64 to 11.80 | The high schools and the street, in the pause, desaturated, the guest's voice pre-lapping | real: Al Jazeera and AFP, 29 Sep to 17 Oct 2026 |
| 4 | 11.80 to 32.24 | The guest: the debt, the "no money" claim, the young in the street | real: the episode (guest), AJ aerial of the student march |
| 5 | 32.24 to 53.74 | Flash turn; the rejection "أطروحة كاذبة" and the question "لماذا؟" | real: the episode |
| 6 | 53.74 to 58.00 | "حرب أوكرانيا" over the 2022 convoy, "نفقات الجيش" over Macron's 2023 army budget with the disc | real: AFP 24 Feb 2022, FRANCE 24 20 Jan 2023 |
| 7 | 58.00 to 61.48 | The payoff "وجدت موارد", then a 0.40 s breath | real: the episode |
| 8 | 61.48 to 66.36 | The host's sign-off; "محاولة فهم" rises with its glow, "الجزيرة" under it | real: the episode (host) |

## Frame descriptions
See `ice/review/gates/look/sheet.jpg`. On every frame until the programme title rises: the Al Jazeera logo top left and the "محاولة فهم" wordmark with its red dot top right (D-40). In order: the missile breaks the sea (red flash frame); Macron on the frigate, the crimson disc swoops behind him, "ماكرون" left of his face; the missile climbing under "صاروخ باليستي"; the host under two glass plates filled word by word; seven archive cuts of lycées, fire and tear gas; the guest's medium shot with his name plate; captions and the crimson "مديونية"; the wide shot; the aerial of the march; the guest; a white flash turn; the guest framed by the face tracker with captions, "عاجزة", "أجزاء من المجتمع الفرنسي تقول:" set over "أطروحة كاذبة" and the "لماذا؟" pill; the convoy with crimson pulses under "حرب أوكرانيا"; Macron and the disc under "نفقات الجيش"; "وجدت موارد"; the host's sign-off; the held, defocused host under "محاولة فهم" and "الجزيرة".

## Yellows and declared holds
- Declared placement: the two marks sit above the union safe zone (y 160 to 320, top 288) and the wordmark reaches the right rail (x up to 1017, safe 888), exactly where the programme's official reels put them; this is the owner's direction (D-40), not an accident of layout.
- page_frame_share 0.744 (yellow): "framed by a fixed logo": the Al Jazeera logo and the "محاولة فهم" wordmark the owner asked for, placed as the programme's official reels place them (D-40); they leave as the programme title rises.
- push_in_per_min 10.9 (yellow): the programme re-frames one long take with a push on each phrase start (F4, measured on both references); every push ends at a cut or eases back on the next phrase, so it reads as breathing, not hurry.
- Declared hold: 64.84 to 66.36, the host holds on his last open-eyed frame (no silent lips) and defocuses under the programme title, as the references hold the title after the name is said.
- empty_half 0.0 to 0.5: the first frames are the sea before the missile breaks it; the voice names the missile within 3 s and the title lands at 3.24 (D-30).

## Review
Critics: one full-film critic (fresh context at round 1, kept for its rounds), rounds 1 and 2 plus a fix check, a final check, a last check and a marks check; final verdict SHIP (one accepted P2: "صاروخ باليستي" sits 20 px under the logo, nothing overlaps) (`ice/review/critic-09-r1.md`, `critic-09-r2.md`). Cold viewers: five, each new and packet-only (`ice/review/clarity/read-3-r1.md` to `r5.md`). Approver: rounds 1 to 3 for stages 01 to 03, rounds 1 and 2 for 04 to 09 (`ice/review/stages/`).
Fix ledger: `ice/review/critic-09-r1.md` (round 1 items) with the fixes in D-31, D-32 and D-33 of `ice/DIRECTION.md`; before and after frames of the red glow in `ice/review/fixes/`.
Not independently reviewed: the attribution header of D-41 (51.1 to 53.7 s) was seen by the round 5 cold viewer and checked by the approver, not by the critic; the free-font version's frames were checked by eye on stills (same build and clock, only the typeface differs; spec, loudness and true peak measured on it).

## How things were checked
By numbers: spec, loudness, motion, film gate, lint, the two ice-edit validators, word timing (three independent onset estimates per word, `tools/align_words.py`), face position per 0.2 s (`ice/plan/face_track.json`), seams by re-transcription. By eye: stills and contact sheets (layout, safe zone, faces, the red glow before and after). Heard by a person: no; the mix was measured, not heard. Not checked: whether "مديونية" or another form was said (no ear in this run; D-31 records the measured choice); the sound of the transitions and the music edit by ear.

## Disclaimer (owner's decision, D-40)
To carry with the reel wherever it is published, and on the Ice site:
- عربي: "تجربة غير رسمية صُنعت بأداة Ice Motion Director، وليست من إنتاج قناة الجزيرة. المادة المصوّرة والعلامات ملك أصحابها."
- English: "An unofficial edit made with Ice Motion Director; not an Al Jazeera production. The footage and marks belong to their owners."

## Real and illustrative
Real: every picture is real footage (the episode, Al Jazeera, AFP, France Télévisions / Ministère des Armées, FRANCE 24); every word on screen is a word said. Illustrative or generated: none. The corner marks are the programme's own, taken from its official reels at their pixels (D-40). Graphic devices drawn by the build: the crimson disc, the glass plates, the question pill, the kinetic titles, the programme title glow. The background behind the guest from 46.9 to 61.5 s is the episode's own picture with its red quote-card glow toned to the curtain's brown (D-32).

## Decided for you (auto mode)
Every stage 01 question took its recommended option (`ice/plan/stage01-questions.md`); the lead session's "don't ask, don't wait" was relayed, not typed here, so Ice did not count it as a waiver, and the questions were answered by default instead of asked (D-02). Each line can be overturned in one reply.
- D-01 route: ice-edit, podcast type "episode to reel", with the remake analysis of the two references for style only.
- D-03 9:16, 1080x1920, 25 fps (the footage rate), for Reels, TikTok, Shorts and Facebook Reels.
- D-04 length about 66 s: the argument needs about 58 s of speech to reach its payoff.
- D-05 only spoken words on screen, in spoken order; the host's Egyptian line shown as said.
- D-06 the segment: the host's "missile against the high schools" line, the guest's debt and "no money" passage, and the payoff 9 minutes later.
- D-07 the programme's own identity: house font in the master, Almarai in the free version, the programme crimson, no AJ360 marks.
- D-08 no narration: the footage is the voice.
- D-11 one master, no cutdowns.
- D-14 disclosure: the first 30 lines of an older analysis of the excluded official reel were printed by accident while looking for style measurements; reading stopped at its title; nothing from it was used, the segment was chosen by an agent that never saw it, and the official reel itself was never searched or opened.
- D-16 the reel works as the episode's trailer: understanding first, then the programme's name.
- D-17 music: one real library track measured closest to both references ("Vanes", Kevin MacLeod, CC BY 4.0); alternates in "What a yes would add".
- D-19 no call to action beyond the programme title the host says.
- D-20 the user is not Al Jazeera: unofficial edit, permissions listed above.
- D-21 the guest is named and titled at his first appearance; no date labels over archive (the programme never shows them); the war footage is named "حرب أوكرانيا" so it is not read as today.
- D-12, D-13 the approach and the rhythm: speaker on screen 75 to 85 % (measured 78 %), archive only on the named things, zoom at most 1.10.
- D-15, D-29 words over archive only for the named things said over it.
- D-22, D-23, D-24 grade the archive, never the speakers; titles in front of the speaker in the chest band (no room behind the head in 9:16); no grain or film texture (the references are clean broadcast).
- D-25 the bundled HTML renderer instead of a HyperFrames install (its browser download would fill drive C).
- D-26 superseded by D-32: the red glow behind the guest is now taken out of his background only, with a person matte.
- D-27 the track runs whole from its first bar, ducked under speech, with one dip before the payoff.
- D-28 the free-font version.
- D-30, D-33, D-35 the cold viewer's and the critic's fixes (word-by-word text, face-tracked framing, label in the safe zone, seams, riser, payoff breath, captions for the muted viewer, the end frame; then the round 2 fixes: no word keyed in a pause, the flying dot removed, the students' close shot dropped for the aerial, two captions lifted, "نفقات" under the chins).
- D-34 (refused by the approver) and D-39 (held for the owner): the masked brand test failed twice. D-40, the owner's decision: keep the programme's identity, add its real persistent marks (the Al Jazeera logo and the "محاولة فهم" wordmark from its official reels, at their pixels), keep the end card, test again and close 09 and 10; publish on the Ice site with a line saying it is not an Al Jazeera production.
- While looking for the marks, the titles of three official reels of the France episode (fQdvsPusdb8, tFlzbvMiH7U, 5b9CVmnYnZU) appeared in the channel's list of shorts; none was opened (D-14, D-40).
- D-31 "مديونية", the form the speech models hear, instead of "مديونيتها".

## What a yes would add
- One listen would also settle two words of the `.srt` that follow the speech models rather than the script: "في صورة" (script: "وفيه صورة") and "لأن" (script: "لأنه").
- A person listening once to 17.0 to 17.6 would settle "مديونية" (D-31) and the transition sounds by ear.
- Al Jazeera's permission would let the master (house font, programme title) be posted as an official reel.
- Music alternates measured nearest to the references, ready to swap: "Suspense and Tension-stem-5-1min" by 3minutetunes (Jamendo, CC BY, distance 0.432) and "Convergence" by Scott Buckley (CC BY 4.0, distance 0.471), against "Vanes" 0.391 (`ice/audio/music/match-ref-*.txt`).

## Next fixes
1. Caption "لخروج أولئك الشباب" over the aerial (24.34 to 26.62): a muted viewer does not learn why the young are in the street (cold read 3 round 2, 22 to 27 s).
2. Caption the debt line's subject "فرنسا إذا استخدمت كل ما تنتجه" (12 to 15 s), with the name plate moved up to make room.
3. "الجزيرة" larger and held longer on the end card (the viewer found it tiny, about 1.3 s).
4. One human listen at 17.0 to 17.6 ("مديونية", D-31) and 29.66 to 29.92 ("أموال"; the speech models write "أمور").
5. Lift T8 and T10 60 to 80 px while the guest's hands are raised.
6. The episode's own colour fringe on the desk and cup from 47.1 s (its quote-card transition), left as it is.
7. A 30 s cutdown that opens on "لماذا؟" for the muted Facebook feed.

Self-critique. Strongest: the payoff, where the army budget footage with the disc behind Macron hands over to "وجدت موارد" landing in crimson as it is said. Weakest: the 21 s guest take from 32.64 s: one camera, held up by captions and the face-tracked reframing only; and the soft wide shot at 22.4 s. With more time: the cutdown above, and a listen by a person to the mix and the two doubtful words.
