# Concepts: spotify-concept-ad
Runtime date: 2026-10-20. Stage 02. Decision: D-13 (ice/DIRECTION.md). Options file: ice/review/direction/D-13-options.md. Consultant: ice/review/direction/D-13-consultant.md. Critic: ice/review/direction/D-13-critic.md.

## The round (five pitches, one per path)
| ID | Path | Concept in one sentence | Critic |
|---|---|---|---|
| C1 | Subject world | Spotify's search field asks "What do you want to play?" and a day answers it, each answer re-scoring the frame, until the field multiplies into 777 million answers | REVISE, 6 |
| C2 | Emotion | The noise you never chose, drawn as colliding sound words, is re-cut by one green play control onto a beat and becomes your music | KEEP, 7 |
| C3 | Audience (muted feed) | One giant word per beat lets a muted viewer read the track, then asks for the sound | REJECT, 4 |
| C4 | Anti-pattern inverted | One camera ride through Spotify's interface built as a city, revealed as the screen in your hand | REJECT, 4 |
| C5 | Unusual format | A day written as a listening queue, re-sorted by the viewer's thumb | REJECT, 5 |

## Chosen: C2 as body and hero, with C1's exact question as the hinge (the critic's mix)
Working title: The street plays along (Arabic working title: الشارع ماشي على مزيكتك).

Concept: the film opens inside the city's machine noise written as sound words (a car horn, a drill, an engine, a demolition hammer; TV static was replaced by the hammer at 03, D-16) clashing out of time; after the loudest hit comes silence, and Spotify's own search field asks "What do you want to play?" (Arabic version: Spotify's own Arabic field "أيّ محتوى على بالك؟"); one press of the green play control and the noise does not disappear: it locks to your beat. Every noise becomes a row of a step sequencer, its word is the hit, and the street becomes a drum machine playing your track (the Egyptian maqsum in the Arabic version, a straight four in the English version, same grid mirrored). The film ends on the question again, unanswered, caret blinking, waiting for the viewer, then the logo and the unofficial line.

Message: you cannot choose the noise around you; you choose what you play.

Hero moment (the screenshot frame): the street as a drum machine, a full grid of noise rows lighting on each step under a sweeping playhead, the green play control at its heart.

Critic fixes carried into the concept (D-13-critic.md):
1. A visible step sequencer: each noise is a row, its word is the hit (horn row on the low "dum" or kick, drill row on the bright "tak" or hat); Arabic resolves to maqsum, English to a straight four; same grid layout, mirrored for RTL.
2. The rebuilt search pill with the exact question appears in the silence after the loudest hit, revealed as a whole phrase; the film ends on it unanswered with the caret blinking, then the logo and RD-01 for at least 2 s. Condition met: Spotify's Arabic placeholder was captured from Spotify's own web player in Arabic (assets/capture/spotify/webplayer-search-ar/, 2026-10-20) and is logged in TRUTH.md.
3. Remix, not escape: machine sources only (horn, drill, engine, TV static; at 03 the hammer replaced TV static, D-16). Never the call to prayer, Quran recitation, church bells, anyone's music, ringtones or human voices (RC-03, RC-08, consultant). The harsh section runs under 6 s.
4. Arabic collisions: only words not being read may overlap; every read word whole with clear dots, moved as one unit; Egyptian nouns ("كلاكس"، "شنيور") over invented sound words; holds 0.6 s per word and 0.9 s for the question; frame 0 holds one readable word.
5. Color from Spotify's own palette (brand sheet and the web player's own category tile colors); green only on the play control and the pill; avoid drifting to Anghami purple-pink or Apple red-pink as a dominant.

Left behind (the most typical direction): C1 as pitched, "music for every moment" told through typed searches, which is the category's and Spotify Egypt's own existing line.

## Viewer takeaway
Written late, at stage 09 on 2026-10-21 (D-48): the clarity gate entered the skills on 2026-10-21 at 04:05 +0300, after this concept was approved at 02 on 2026-10-20. Every field comes only from text locked before read 3; its source follows it in brackets. Written before the read-3 viewer was dispatched.

Sells: Spotify, the app (the film shows its rebuilt search field, its Top result card and its official logo) [TRUTH.md "In one sentence": "Spotify is an app where you play music, podcasts and audiobooks"; D-13]
Offer's job: Spotify lets you search for what you feel like and play it [TRUTH.md F1 "Search for anything to play", benefit "Type what you feel like, play it"; BRIEF.md "Product truth" row points to TRUTH.md]
One-line idea: Press play on Spotify, the noise around you turns into your music. [D-13 concept: "one press of the green play control and the noise does not disappear: it locks to your beat"; D-13 message: "you cannot choose the noise around you; you choose what you play"]
Literal anchors:
- the sound words (HONK, BRRRRT, BANG, VRRRM) -> the sounds of the drawn machines they pop next to (the car horns of the jam, the road breaker, the pile rig, the motorbike) -> 0.0 s, each word beside its own machine as it fires [D-30: "every sound from a visible source, a word may pop from its source"; ice/plan/storyboard.md row 0.0-2.9]
- the machines playing on the beat (the street as a band) -> the music Spotify plays after the press -> 7.5 s, the press on the rebuilt Top result card, the hero car's horn on the kick from 7.5 s [D-30: "after play the same street objects move to the beat and play along with the song"; D-32; storyboard rows 5.75-7.5 and 7.5-9.5]
- the green play circle that drops into the street -> the play button of Spotify's own result card -> 7.5 s on the card, landing on the hero car's front at 8.0 s [D-13 critic fix 5 (green only on the play control and the pill); storyboard seam 7.5 to 8.0]
