# Script: spotify-concept-ad (The street plays along)
Mode: Write (no script supplied)
Language and dialect: two versions. English (plain international, sentence case). Arabic: Egyptian (Cairo) spoken Arabic, polished register (D-11), every on-screen word in Arabic lettering except the Latin name "Spotify" and the English unofficial line (RD-02); transcreated, not translated.
Length target: 49.0 s (the D-14 beat plan re-timed at 03 so the question and the answer each get about 3 s of reading hold, and extended at 04 so the Arabic end card holds the logo plus both unofficial lines; the film runs 49.0 s in every plan file).
Word budget: 20 words or fewer per version in total, counting each distinct on-screen string once (the closing question repeats the same string the viewer already read at 5.5 s, so it adds no new reading; brand film text density: manifesto lines word by word, at most 2 lines, about 6 percent of frame height per line). The required unofficial label is exempt from the count (truth-sheet.md section 12: disclaimers are marked and exempt from text counts).
Digits: the script holds no numbers. If one is ever added, the Arabic version uses Arabic-Indic digits, as Spotify's own Egypt Arabic page does (ice-arabic bidi-numerals-line-breaks.md section 4).

| Shot | Time | Visual (real source) | On-screen text EN (quoted) | On-screen text AR (quoted) | VO line | Delivery | Visual cue | Music and SFX | Shape | Importance |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0.0 to 5.5 | Opening C plus A (hooks.md, D-15): a close oblique patch of a street built of type, the camera falling to street level; at frame 0 the horn word fires in the nearest lane, whole, about twice the size of the others, the only bright word; machine noise words fire out of time (code-built) | "HONK" "BRRRRT" "VRRRM" "BANG" (sound words; texture words except the one read word held at frame 0 and the last horn) | "كلاكس" "شنيور" "موتور" "تكسير" (Egyptian nouns for the sources: car horn, power drill, motor, demolition) | none | the city as a nuisance, never as people | metaphor: noise is type with no rhythm | code-made noise: horn, drill, engine, hammer, out of time, harsh section under 6 s; loudest horn at about 5.0 | none | 2 |
| 2a | 5.5 to 8.6 | Silence. Spotify's search pill rebuilt from the web player capture (assets/capture/spotify/webplayer-search-en and -ar) | "What do you want to play?" (Spotify UI placeholder, exact) | "أيّ محتوى على بالك؟" (Spotify Arabic UI placeholder, exact) | none | a quiet question | name: Spotify's own line, its own hold | digital silence avoided: room tone only, one soft caret tick | none | 2 |
| 2b | 8.6 to 12.0 | The answer lands in the field whole, as one phrase (film's voice, an everyday moment, never a title); at 10.4 a neutral "Top result" card rebuilt from the web player results page rises under the field (grey cover square, grey bars, no title) with Spotify's green play circle on it; the pointer presses that circle on the downbeat at 12.0 | "something for this traffic"; UI label "Top result" | "حاجة للزحمة دي"; UI label "أفضل النتائج" | none | dry, a little tired, then decided | contrast: the turn from noise to choice | a low filtered pulse starts under the answer; the press at 12.0 opens it with one kick (bar 0 of the grid) | none | 2 |
| 3 | 12.0 to 22.0 | The pressed green circle drops into the street and heads the playhead; the chain spreads: the horn locks on bar 0, its hit knocks the hammer into its lane on bar 1, then the drill (16.0) and the engine (17.0), then a burst of three or more locks inside 1.5 s; the camera rises following it | the same four sound words, now on the beat (texture, no reading needed) | the same four Arabic nouns, now on the beat | none | playful | metaphor: the noise joins your track | the four noises become the kit: horn on the low hit (dum in maqsum, kick in the straight four), hammer on the backbeat (tak in maqsum: steps 2, 6, 12; snare on 4 and 12 in English), drill as the hats (off sixteenths in Arabic, eighths in English), engine as the bass (cue-sheet.json patterns are the source) | none | 2 |
| 4 | 22.0 to 24.0 | One bar: the camera holds, only the playhead moves | none | none | none | held breath | none | pre-drop gap: everything drops out but the playhead tick and a riser | none | 1 |
| 5 | 24.0 to 34.0 | The drop: top-down by about 31 s; lanes are steps, traffic is the playhead; the answer runs as the melody lane | "The street plays along." | "الشارع ماشي على مزيكتك." | none | warm, a little proud | metaphor made literal: the city is your drum machine | full groove, melody lead carrying the motif | none | 3 |
| 6 | 34.0 to 37.0 | The locked lanes fold upward into Spotify's Browse all tile layout under the search field, one tile per lane colour (D-17 critic fix 1) | none | none | none | quick | none | fill into the last section | none | 2 |
| 7 | 37.0 to 41.0 | The pill again, empty, placeholder showing, caret blinking, above the street folded into Spotify's Browse all tile layout (one tile per lane colour with its noise word, no label, illustrative), pulsing on the beat (D-17 critic fix 1) | "What do you want to play?" | "أيّ محتوى على بالك؟" | none | an open invitation | name: the same question, now to the viewer | groove continues low under the pill | none | 3 |
| 8 | 41.0 to 49.0 | Full Spotify logo (official file) on #000000 with the search field under it; the unofficial line from 43.0 | "Unofficial concept, not affiliated with Spotify" | "فكرة غير رسمية، غير تابعة لـ Spotify" (draft, owner to approve) plus the English line "Unofficial concept, not affiliated with Spotify" | none | plain | name: the logo's own hold | the track resolves on its own cadence under the logo | none | 2 |

Word count: English 20 distinct words (4 sound words, question 6, answer 4, the UI label "Top result" 2, line 4), 26 counting the repeated question; Arabic 17 distinct words (4 nouns, question 4, answer 3, the UI label 2, line 4), 21 counting the repeat. Both within the budget of 20 distinct words (the storyboard critic's chronology fix added the Top result card at 04).

Facts used: TRUTH.md exact text (search placeholder EN and AR, logo files, unofficial line RD-01). No approved figure is used (the 777 million line was dropped with C1's counter, D-13 critic).
Illustrative content declared: the answer phrase "something for this traffic" / "حاجة للزحمة دي" is the film's own voice landing in a rebuilt search field; the Top result card's playlist (title "something for this traffic", the film's own answer; type label "Playlist", exact from the capture; a cover drawn by code from the four lane colours; no owner name; TRUTH.md "Illustrative and generated content") and, in the lane-grid world only (gone since D-30), the Browse all style tiles carrying the film's own noise words and step patterns are illustrative layouts rebuilt from the web player captures, not real Spotify results or categories; no song, artist, playlist or category name of Spotify's catalog appears; the street, its lamps and machines are code-built shapes; the score is generated by code. All are labelled illustrative in the delivery note.

## Claim test (truth-sheet.md section 5)
- No superlative, no number, no price, no feature claim beyond searching and playing (TRUTH F1, F2).
- "The street plays along." is a metaphor in the film's own voice, not a product claim and not presented as Spotify's words.
- No named entity besides Spotify; no person, city name or other brand. The search pill and the green play control are rebuilt from Spotify's public web player capture; the play control is the web player's own green circle.

## Arabic dialect review (ice-arabic dialect-profiles.md section 3; native reader sign-off open, the user by default)
- كلاكس، شنيور، موتور، تكسير: everyday Cairo words for the sources (a horn, a power drill, a motor, demolition work); no rural or other-region words; no sound word that could misread (consultant: avoid "دم", "بوم").
- "حاجة للزحمة دي": everyday Cairo phrasing ("حاجة" for "something", "الزحمة" for traffic jam), gender neutral (no first person).
- "الشارع ماشي على مزيكتك.": colloquial ("ماشي على" = goes along with; "مزيكا" is the everyday word for music); second person masculine generic, as Spotify Egypt's own page writes ("لو إنت ...", R-02 S-07).
- "أيّ محتوى على بالك؟": Spotify's own UI string, kept exactly even though it is closer to MSA.
- "فكرة غير رسمية، غير تابعة لـ Spotify": a plain formal line for a legal-style label (draft, owner to approve, COMPLIANCE RD-01).
- No diacritics except the shadda that Spotify's own string carries.

## Revision at 04 (D-30, owner feedback on draft-7, 2026-10-21)
Words unchanged at 04 (they change at 05: see the two sections below); timing and delivery changed: the noise words HONK, BANG, BRRRRT, VRRRM pop from their visible sources in the first 3.0 s (was 5.5 s); the question rises at 2.9 s; the answer "something for this traffic" is typed letter by letter from 3.3 s to 5.4 s with a real typing cadence (pauses between words), no dead caret time; the Top result card (the film playlist: "something for this traffic", "Playlist") rises at 5.75 s; the press at 7.5 s; "The street plays along." 23.5 to 27.5 s; the field returns at 27.5 s; the logo at 29.5 s; the unofficial line from 30.5 s; end at 36.0 s (storyboard.md revision 4, D-33). English only (D-28).

## Revision at 05 (rework critic, storyboard revision 5)
The line at 23.5 to 27.5 s changes from "The street plays along." to "Press play. The noise becomes the beat." in two lines (D-34, proposed for the owner's choice; A: "Pick a song. The street keeps the beat.", C: "Your song. The street plays it."). After the press a sound word names its machine for that machine's first bar and once more for one bar from the drop, in its lane colour with a black outline. Other words and timings unchanged.

## Word count and budget after the rework (approver return 1 at 04)
The 20-word budget set at 03 is retired: it counted the lane-grid copy, and the owner has since added the card's type label "Playlist" (at 07, TRUTH.md) and asked for a line that explains the idea (D-30). The film has no voiceover, so the budget comes from reading time per focus unit (ice-film script.md section 5; ice-type reading time: letters / 15 + 1.5 s), checked unit by unit:

| Unit | Distinct words | On screen | Reading time needed | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| sound words HONK, BANG, BRRRRT, VRRRM | 4 | one word per firing next to its source, 0.3 to 0.6 s each; again for one bar each after the press | a glance (one word, part of the picture) | fits |
| the question "What do you want to play?" | 6 | 0.4 s at 2.9 s; again 27.5 to 36.0 s | 3.0 s (20 letters) | read in full on the end card (8.5 s) |
| the answer "something for this traffic" | 4 | typed 3.3 to 5.4 s, held to 7.5 s | 3.0 s (23 letters) | fits (4.2 s, read as it is typed) |
| "Top result" and "Playlist" | 3 | 5.75 to 7.5 s; the card title repeats the answer | 2.6 s (17 letters) | fits with the 1.75 s card read because the title repeats the answer already read; the two labels are a glance on a known interface |
| the line (D-34) | B 7 (A 8, C 6) | 23.5 to 27.5 s | B 3.6 s (31 letters), A 3.5 s (30), C 3.1 s (24) | fits: about 3.6 s from half in to half out |

Distinct words: 24 with line B (25 with A, 23 with C), the required unofficial line exempt (truth-sheet.md section 12). No unit is shortened to hit a beat.

Claim test for the new line: "Press play. The noise becomes the beat." is the film's own metaphor over a code-drawn street in an unofficial concept; it claims nothing beyond searching and playing (TRUTH F1, F2): Spotify is not said to change real street noise. Lines A and C pass the same test.

## Reading times after the draft-9 notes (D-39)
Words unchanged. The question returns at 27.5 s and stays under the logo to the end: 6.0 s on screen (3.0 s needed). The logo from 28.75 s (fully at 29.15 s) to 33.5 s. The unofficial line from 29.0 s to 33.5 s: 4.5 s on screen (41 letters / 15 + 1.5 = 4.2 s needed). The film is 33.5 s.

## Reading times at 35.0 s (draft-11)
The question 27.5 to 35.0 s: 7.5 s on screen. The logo from 28.75 s to 35.0 s. The unofficial line 29.0 to 35.0 s: 6.0 s on screen (4.2 s needed). Words unchanged.

## Draft-12 (D-44 to D-46)
The question returns at 27.5 s and stays 3.0 s (3.0 s needed) before the street and the field go to black. The end card carries only the official logo (no words). The non-affiliation line is not in the film (D-46): the gallery caption and the landing card carry "Unofficial concept, not affiliated with Spotify". Distinct on-screen words: 24 (the line no longer exempt nor shown).

## Draft-13
The question returns at 27.5 s and stays 4.0 s before the black. The end card carries only the official logo, landing at 33.5 s.
