# D-13 critic: the concept

## Verdicts
| Concept | Message, from the options alone | Verdict | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| C1 | Whatever your moment, Spotify's search has something for it | REVISE | 6 |
| C2 | Press play and the noise you never chose becomes your music | KEEP | 7 |
| C3 | You can read this beat muted, so turn the sound on | REJECT | 4 |
| C4 | The app in your hand is a city of music | REJECT | 4 |
| C5 | Your day sounds the way you queue it | REJECT | 5 |

- C1: the set-aside first idea (R-02 S-15) in a search box; typed-query storytelling is Google's "Parisian Love". "777 million answers" relabels users (CP-01). Arabic placeholder uncaptured. 6 to 8 code-made genres in 45 s.
- C2: one idea; written noise reads muted from frame 0; percussion is the most code-friendly score. Fails competitor swap: a purple circle makes it Anghami's.
- C3: fits any brief; 0.47 to 0.6 s beats undercut Arabic 0.6 and 0.9 s holds; Wrapped's look (R-06 S-04, S-10).
- C4: no moment (misses D-09); public UI reads as a loading skeleton (N7); fly-through plus pull-back is a tech-launch trope.
- C5: Premium-only action for a mostly free market (F5, CP-04, RC-11); queue not showable (N7). Best copy in the round.

## Gates
- Hero moment: C2, C4 (2 of 5); C1's counter fails CP-01.
- Cover the logo: C1 pass, C2 and C4 partial. Competitor swap: C1 only.
- "And": C1 fails (a day, then global scale).
- Unexpected: C2, C4 (2 of 5), minimum met.
- Silhouettes: C1's answer worlds match C3's cards: four, not five.

## Choice
Mix: C2 as body and hero, plus C1's exact question "What do you want to play?" as the hinge. Message: you cannot choose the noise around you; you choose what you play. Out: the 777 counter, per-answer genres, the typed day.

## Fixes, by impact
1. Ambition. "Snap to a grid and take a color" is the stock chaos-to-order resolve; cheap remixed noise is the consultant's top risk. Make the grid a visible step sequencer: each noise a row, its word the hit (horn = dum, drill = tak); Arabic resolves to maqsum (W-01), English to a straight four, layout mirrored. Hero frame: the street as a drum machine.
2. Brand link. As written the turn is a green circle. Put the rebuilt pill with the exact question in the silence after the loudest hit (whole-word reveal); end on it unanswered, caret blinking, then logo and RD-01 (2 s). Capture Spotify's Arabic placeholder into TRUTH before 03, or drop the pill from both versions.
3. Remix, not escape. Spotify Egypt's 2025 films told "overwhelmed, then calm" (R-06 S-13); escape reads as class contempt. The city plays along. Machines only (horn, drill, engine, TV static); never adhan, Quran, bells, anyone's music, ringtones (RC-03, RC-08) or voices. Harsh section under 6 s.
4. Arabic collisions. Overlap only unread words; read words whole, dots clear, moved as one unit; Egyptian nouns (كلاكس، شنيور) over sound words; holds 0.6 s (0.9 s for the question); frame 0 holds one readable word.
5. Color. "Each word takes a color" can drift to Anghami purple (#92278f) or Apple red-pink (R-04). Spotify palette only; green only on play control and pill.

Highest-scored KEEP: C2 (7), chosen as the mix.
