# D-17 options: the direction (look) for "The street plays along"
Runtime date: 2026-10-20. Stage 05 direction round (ice-direction pitch-round.md section B). Brand film richness floor (film-types/brand-film.md): hero_share 30, hero_width 40 for manifesto lines, frame_fill 10 of 16, empty_half at most 2 s (16:9) and 0.5 s (vertical), depth_layers 3, in_shot_motion 70 percent, longest_still 1.5 s outside declared true stills, surface_detail yes, light_events 2, real_material 100 percent.

Locked inputs: concept D-13 and structure D-14 (a 2.5D street of type whose lanes become a step sequencer; Spotify's own search field and green play control rebuilt from captures; the official full logo untouched on the end card); opening D-15; noise sources D-16; Spotify's colours only from its own material (R-01 S-02 "Don't introduce new colors outside our brand palette", "Do get creative with surprising color combinations"); logo rules (green logo only on black or white; black on light, white on dark; clear space half the icon height); no Spotify Mix (exclusive, R-01 S-06): closest free substitute from open-licensed files already on this machine (no downloads, run conditions); Arabic matched to Latin in weight and colour (R-05).

Brand colours available from Spotify's own material (ice/assets/brand-sheet.json; web player browse tiles sampled from assets/capture/spotify/webplayer-search-en; newsroom company page): ground #121212, black #000000, Spotify green #1ED760 (primary button), white #FFFFFF, muted #A7A7A7, pill #1F1F1F; Premium page accents #91EEDA (mint), #FFA178 (coral), #D8A3FF (lilac); browse tiles #E61E32 (red), #DC148C (magenta), #608108 (olive), #006450 (deep green), #B06239 (rust), #477D95 (slate), #283EA3 (blue), #8400E7 (violet), #1E3264 (navy), #8D67AB (lavender), #AF2896 (purple); company page mint band #C3F0C8.

Type measurements (fonts.md section 4 method: candidates set at the reference cap height against Spotify Mix and CircularSp-Arab as rendered on Spotify's own Premium pages; temp/fontmatch/): Latin, shape overlap / ink-weight ratio: Readex Pro 600 0.364 / 1.03; Figtree 700 0.310 / 1.10; Bricolage Grotesque Bold 0.309 / 1.13; Geist 700 0.268 / 1.24; Inter Bold 0.279 / 1.41. Arabic: IBM Plex Sans Arabic Bold 0.393 / 0.86; Noto Kufi Arabic 700 0.292 / 0.84; Readex Pro 600 (Arabic) 0.260 / 0.72; Tajawal ExtraBold 0.223 / 0.82. All are OFL files already on this machine (local copies, no download).

Category convention to meet or break (R-06, R-04): near-black ground with one owned accent, colour supplied by content art, live action.

DIRECTION A: "Night shift" (Spotify's dark interface becomes the street; each locked lane takes one of Spotify's own browse colours)
Thesis The street is Spotify's own night-dark interface, and every noise you lock in lights its lane in one of Spotify's own colours, until the city is a full colour grid.
Dials energy high (cuts replaced by locks on the beat); density layered; ground textured asphalt (dark, grain, light pools); depth 2.5D plane plus frontal billboards; camera one continuous crane; type friendly geometric heavy; texture fine grain and soft light falloff; colour dark base plus four of Spotify's browse colours, one per lane, green only on the play control and the search field; subject literal (real rebuilt UI); sound score-led groove; voice none.
Palette ground #121212; surface #1F1F1F; ink #FFFFFF; ink muted #A7A7A7; accent (play control and field only) #1ED760; lane colours: horn #E61E32 (browse red), hammer #FFA178 (Premium coral), drill #91EEDA (Premium mint), engine #608108 (browse olive); melody lane white; colour arrives only when a lane locks (grey street until then).
Type Latin Figtree 700 (display) and 500 (UI text); Arabic IBM Plex Sans Arabic Bold and Regular (highest Arabic shape overlap); matched cap and x-height by size adjustment; local OFL copies.
Signature The lock: a grey noise word drops into its lane on the downbeat and the lane floods with its colour from the word outward, then the word repeats across its pattern cells; early (12 s horn), paid off in the burst (18 to 19.5 s), resolved when the whole coloured street folds into the search field (34 to 37 s).
Sound score leads: a groove built from the street's own sounds (horn as low brass stab, hammer as backbeat, drill as hats, engine as sub bass), maqsum in Arabic, a straight four in English, 120 BPM; the noise section is sound design.
Structure as D-14: chain reaction, turn at 12 percent, peak at 65 percent, ending on the empty search field with the street playing inside it, then the logo.
Floor hero_share: hook 35 (horn billboard plus lane), hero 70 (the grid) vs 30; frame_fill 13 to 16 of 16 vs 10; empty_half 0 s vs 2 s; depth_layers 3 (ground, billboards, foreground words or the UI) vs 3; in_shot_motion about 90 percent vs 70; longest_still 0.9 s outside the declared caret hold vs 1.5; surface_detail asphalt grain in every shot; light_events 4 (press ring, lane floods, drop flash, playhead sweep) vs 2; real_material 100 percent (rebuilt search field and play control from captures, official logo, site colours).
Risk four lane colours can tip into a rainbow; red plus coral can read as Apple Music's red-pink if they dominate.
Wrong for a quiet luxury brand, or a brand without a colour system of its own.

DIRECTION B: "Daylight print" (a warm off-white street printed like a poster; type in black ink; the Wrapped-era visual mixtape logic)
Thesis The street is a printed poster in daylight, black ink on warm paper, and every locked noise is a new plate pulled onto it until the poster is complete.
Dials energy medium-high; density layered; ground paper (light, warm off-white with print grain); depth 2.5D with print shadow; camera one continuous crane; type expressive heavy grotesque; texture print grain, slight misregistration on accents; colour light base, black ink, one overprint colour per lane drawn from Spotify's browse colours, green only on the play control and the search field; subject literal; sound score-led, warm and dry; voice none.
Palette ground #EFEFEA (light, sampled from the 2025 Wrapped kit cover on Spotify's newsroom media kits page, assets/capture/spotify/newsroom-mediakits/); ink #121212; ink muted #6A6A6A (tint of ink); accent #1ED760 (play and field only); lane overprints #E61E32, #FFA178, #006450, #DC148C; the end card switches to black for the green logo (one polarity change, at the brand beat).
Type Latin Bricolage Grotesque Bold (display), Figtree 500 (UI); Arabic Tajawal ExtraBold and Bold; local OFL copies.
Signature The pull: each lock is a print pass, the lane's colour plate rolling across the street in one sweep on the downbeat; early, burst, resolved as the finished poster folds into the search field.
Sound score leads, warm and dry: brushed kit, upright bass, marimba, the machine noises pressed into the kit; maqsum in Arabic, a straight four in English.
Structure as D-14.
Floor hero_share: hook 35, hero 70 vs 30; frame_fill 12 to 16 vs 10; empty_half 0 s; depth_layers 3 (paper ground with its own grain plane, billboards, foreground words) vs 3; in_shot_motion about 85 percent; longest_still 1.0 s; surface_detail print grain everywhere; light_events 2 (press ring, drop flash; light is scarce in a print world) vs 2; real_material 100 percent.
Risk a light street loses the night city and Spotify's own dark interface (the rebuilt field and play control come from a dark UI); the polarity jump at the end card; print misregistration can blur small Arabic dots.
Wrong for a brand whose interface and identity are dark-first.

DIRECTION C: "Signal" (Swiss grid on near-black: white type, white rules, and one signal, Spotify green)
Thesis The street is a precise score sheet in the dark, and only the thing you chose is green.
Dials energy medium; density sparse to medium; ground void-like near-black with a fine grid; depth flat 2D with a tilted plane; camera crane with snaps on beats; type neo-grotesque, one family; texture clinical, no grain; colour monochrome plus one signal (Spotify green on the play control, the search field and the melody lane only); subject literal; sound minimal techno clicks locked to the grid; voice none.
Palette ground #121212; grid #2A2A2A; ink #FFFFFF; ink muted #A7A7A7; signal #1ED760.
Type Readex Pro (one family for Latin and Arabic, highest Latin shape overlap and weight match); local OFL copy.
Signature The snap: every lock is an exact cubic snap onto the grid, no overshoot; early, burst, resolved as the grid collapses into the field.
Sound minimal techno at 120 BPM, dry clicks, no reverb; the noise section is filtered hiss and clicks.
Structure as D-14.
Floor hero_share: hook 30, hero 65 vs 30; frame_fill 9 to 12 vs 10 (below the floor in the noise section unless filled); empty_half up to 2 s; depth_layers 2 to 3; in_shot_motion about 75 percent; longest_still 1.4 s; surface_detail grid lines only (borderline); light_events 2; real_material 100 percent.
Risk it is the category's own convention (near-black plus one accent, R-04) and reads as a tech product demo, not a street; the floor is tight in the noise section.
Wrong for a playful consumer music brand.
